Kathryn
Fava Currie begins married life at Big Rock Creek, an Idaho mining camp,
in the early 1950s. She is romantic, vulnerable, and clueless.
Three women become her friends. Millicent Briley serves as mentor and
offers sobering advice. Freddie (Winifred) Gayle introduces Kathryn
to womens efforts to achieve equality and environmental issues.
Iris Fletcher plants a seed of doubt in Kathryns mind about a
successful marriage. The birth of daughter, Portia, brings a new dimension
to Kathryns existence.
After seven years in Big Rock Creek, Kathryn and Wayne move to Grand
Junction, Colorado, and welcome son, Brooks, to their family. Lorena
Runnion, a neighbor and new friend, adds fun and excitement to Kathryns
life.
Several years later, Wayne and Kathryn settle in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Winifred Gayle lives in a nearby city with her family. Matthew and Millicent
Briley move into a house close to the Curries. Kathryn, Winifred, and
Millicent resume old friendships and face lifes challenges and
rewards.
